Description: Besides good specialized knowledge and language skills, the 21st century workplace environment expects our students to have competences, such as cooperation, creativity, flexible adaptability, self-motivation, problem solving skills, etc. In order to provide a practice oriented educational environment, that can develop these competences, it is necessary both for the teacher and the students to change their workplace culture, which is extremely difficult, as is goes against all the routines and the accepted and expected norms; the educational culture. When it comes to the introduction of alternative methods necessary for the implementation of these cultural changes, there is huge resistance on both sides. In our round table discussion we wish to discuss our practices, experiences, difficulties in our communication and language classes. We will analyse our present educational culture and the ideal workplace culture, towards which our methods can provide the first steps.
