A Practical Approach to Promoting Learner Autonomy: Project-based Learning, e-Learning Tools and Learner-generated Materials in a “Blended” Language Course,
Ms. Angelika Szuba-Zienko, Jagiellonian University, Poland
Place: Room B5-31

Time: 15.00 – 16.30
Description: In this workshop, you will look at the changing role of the teacher and the challenges they face in fostering learner autonomy. We will discuss ways in which teachers can help learners to become more autonomous. You will have a chance to engage in hands-on activities that can be used not only in face-to-face contacts, but also to extend learning outside the classroom. In particular, we will focus on e-learning tools and student-generated materials and their usefulness in enhancing personal authenticity and thus encouraging autonomous behaviour. Among other features, we will take a closer look at projects that required students to carry out their own research and collaborate in order to collect, analyse and present data.

NOTE: The participants should have their own laptops with them in this workshop.
