Description: The University of Barcelona, where 65% of lectures in bachelor’s degrees are taught in Catalan, 30% in Spanish and 5% in English, receives almost two thousand mobility students every year. Language courses and other resources are offered by the UBs Serveis Lingüístics the Language Services  in order to be able to speak and understand the Catalan language, attend lessons and participate in the cultural life. One of the important services offered is the Language Exchange, which oversees the creation of conversation groups formed by native Catalan speakers and students from abroad. While a light monitoring of the groups is done to guarantee that everything is running smoothly, the idea is that the groups should become autonomous. More than 25 groups exchanging 14 different languages were created during the academic year 2015-2016 and the data shows that this informal learning experience is successful, even while it also involves certain challenges.
